Amanda Wakely may be a newcomer in the American bridal scene, but I won’t be surprised if she becomes a household name like Vera Wang after several seasons. In the last several years, this London-based designer has managed to grab the attention of the most well-dressed celebrities, having designed gowns for Scarlett Johansson, Dita Von Teese, Demi Moore, Kate Beckinsale, and more. I don’t know why I’ve never heard of her until now, because I am mad about her designs! Her latest creations for spring 2013 are decidedly glamorous and stylish, but they also deviate from traditional silhouettes and predictable details without being too radically different. In a bridal market inundated with lace, tulle, and taffeta, Amanda Wakely’s modern wedding dresses are a much-needed breath of fresh air. Who will be the next big name to wear one of her amazing creations? Whoever she is, I’m jealous of her already. Check out my favorite Amanda Wakely wedding dresses from this season!

Above: a glamorous Grecian-inspired gown featuring a beautifully studded top, embellished cinched waist, and a pleated flowing skirt. This my favorite dress in the collection, and I would get married in a heartbeat for this gown!

A modern take on the trumpet dress. Carefully-arranged diagonal pleats add visual interest and accentuate the waist and hips – perfect for brides with athletic bodies.

Fit for a diva, this glittering gown commands attention with its stunning drapery and swishy fabric. A thigh-high slit makes this dress sexy without too revealing.

A clean and simple asymmetric dress, perfect for brides who’d rather have a good silhouette speak for itself over intricate embellishments.

This cinched column gown is just the thing for showing off gorgeous hourglass curves. A keyhole neckline gives a hint of cleavage, which would probably drive the groom crazy all night.

A simple strapless dress with a figure-hugging corset top plays into the peplum trend with small side flares.

This ruched gown is decidedly sexy without revealing too much.

Structured pleats cascade down the skirt of this sweetheart neck gown. The bustiere has some gorgeous beadwork – wish I could see it up close!

Last but definitely not the least, a fashion-forward gown featuring a sheer paneled bust and fluttering sleeves. This is the kind of dress that looks just as stunning on a celebrity at the red carpet as on a blushing modern bride walking down the church aisle.
