Kate Middleton’s Wedding Dress: Designer Sketches

There is still no answer question of what Kate Middleton will wear when she marries Prince William, but that hasn’t stopped the best bridal gown designers from sketching out dresses especially for her! These dresses were based on their knowledge personal style and the kind of gowns members of the Royal Family typically wear. Above are two sketches from UK-based designer Alice Temperly. The fitted bodice is delicately pleated and shaped to accentuate her feminine figure, while the ruffled layers on the skirt add drama and elegance, in a demure, ladylike fashion.

Reem Acra created an ivory silk A-line gown with French Alençon lace accents at the wrists, veil, and tiers. French Alençon lace is traditionally worn by European royal brides, and there’s no doubt that Kate Middleton’s dress will be compared to those.

Designer Rani Totman from St Pucchi created two luxurious skirts to show off Kate’s figure. The first is a silk satin pleated inlay with a hand-embroidered overskirt, while the other is a ruched silk organza skirt that leads out into a cathedral train.

Angel Sanchez’s dream dress for Kate is a lovely combination of sophisticated and modern. This silk trikado trumpet gown features a banded bodice, mock turtleneck, sheer sleeves, and a bias-draped ruffle skirt for a touch of drama.

Last but not the least is British designer Sassi Holford, who created a simple yet elegant dress with a deep v-back, cinched waist, and full flowing skirt with an extended train. This is actually my vote for Kate’s wedding dress – based on what I’ve seen from her photos, she’s not into intricate embellishments and fussy details.
