The Great Gatsby’s upcoming movie adaptation has got vintage-loving brides falling in love with art deco wedding dresses all over again. It isn’t difficult to be swayed by the assertively modern charm of 1920s fashion, and seeing Sue Wong’s art deco-inspired bridal collection has me convinced that this is what I want to be wearing on my big day. Sue’s dazzling gowns are all about the details and glamour without losing coherence or structure. Each piece is carefully made using hand-dyed chiffon, flapper-esque beading, or delicate embroidery; anything less would be an injustice to her “warrior goddesses” (as she likes to call her brides).

My bias for 20s fashion aside, I also love how Sue’s gowns are made to suit real women – something most bridal designers don’t really think of. Most of these gowns would look gorgeous on a size 14 and a size 2, and her ability to accentuate the female physique lends power and confidence to its wearer.
