Alternatives to Wedding Guestbooks

Wedding guest books are used to keep track of guests who were able to attend your wedding reception; sometimes, they also serve as a record of messages and happy wishes from your guests. But most of the time, guests only end up signing their name without leaving a single word of congratulations. You don’t have to stick to the traditional wedding guest book. Try out these fun alternatives below!
The Wishing Tree
A wishing tree is a potted, ornamental tree that has paper “ornaments” swinging from the branches. There is a table with cut out pieces of paper, pens, and ornament hooks. Guests write their messages on the pieces of paper and hand it to the couple, who will hang the ornament on the tree by the hook. I can imagine how the wishing tree ideal go well with Christmas day weddings too. Tip: you might want to put a card instructing the guests on how the wishing tree works. This is a relatively new idea and not everyone will know how to go about writing their wishes.
A wedding canvas
Here’s a fun idea for a wedding guest list populated by creative people. Get a large blank canvas, hang it on a wall, place paint, brushes, and permanent markers on one side of the room, and have your guests make their mark.
Wedding Quilt
If you know how to sew or quilt, then here is an exciting and memorable way to preserve your guests’ wedding wishes. Provide squares of fabric for your guests and have them write their messages to you with a permanent fabric pen. You can also set up a table with fabric squares, permanent markers, and give your guests instructions on how this works. Provide a box where your guests can drop their finished squares.

These are all really great ideas. A friend of mine created a video guest book by passing around a small camera. I’d like to check out a canvas guest book sometime, I’m sure it’ll turn out to be an interesting piece of work.
