The Look for Less: Charlene Wittstock’s Armani Wedding Dress
Charlene Wittstock’s wedding dress by Armani caused quite a stir during her wedding to Prince Albert II of Monaco last Saturday. It would have been too predictable to expect her to wear a lace wedding dress like Grace Kelly did, plus she seems like the kind of woman who prefers cleaner lines to romantic frills. Charlene Wittstock did not disappoint when she came out wearing a silk duchess column gown by Giorgio Armani.
Armani has been dressing Charlene Wittstock ever since she started appearing in public with Prince Albert II, and the piece he created for her wedding was quite a masterpiece. The sophisticated gown featured an off-shoulder neckline, gold-tinted Swarovski crystals and white pearl teardrops hand-embroidered on the skirt, and a dramatic 15-foot train.
I felt a bit of deja vu when I first saw the Armani wedding dress, and visiting my favorite blogs helped me remember why it looked so familiar. Legends by Romona Keveza has a similar gown, and it’s amazing how much the two are alike considering that this dress hit the runway way before the Monaco Royal wedding. As you can see, the similarity is uncanny, down to the twist-band neckline. Romona Keveza sure knows how to dress brides like royalty, and I’m sure that this particular style will be popular among brides who have the tastes of a princess.
