Unusual Weddings: Katamari Damacy Themed Wedding
Katamari Damacy has to be one of the cutest, most awesome games to have ever been released – but I never saw it as particularly romantic until Aidra and Ernest’s adorable Katamari Damacy wedding. This, I think, is the perfect benchmark for unusual weddings: the theme and the way it was played out is newsworthy not only for its uniqueness, but because it was also tastefully done.
The premise of the video game is that the universe is about to come to and end, and the only way to save it is by rolling up a ball (katamari) and gathering objects until it becomes as massive as a star. At Aidra and Ernest’s website and wedding invitation, they included the xkcd reference that explains the romantic aspect of saving the world through a katamari.

But the best part about Aidra and Ernest’s wedding is that the theme doesn’t end with the invitations and the decor. The entire wedding party dressed up as characters from the video game – even the groomsmen! Painting the headpieces and putting them together must have been so much fun.
Did I mention that I love Aidra’s whimsical wedding dress? The hot pink detail is romantic, quirky, and theme-appropriate all at the same time!
