bridal essentials

It’s your wedding day and with the help of your mother, girlfriends, and loved ones, you’re as beautiful as ever and ready to walk down the aisle. Although there’s nothing wrong with wanting to look beautiful on the day of your wedding, most brides don’t consider how uncomfortable it would be to spend four hours in an itchy dress and four-inch heels. Most brides also tend to forget that a few tears may be shed during the wedding; if you wear the wrong mascara, you could ruin your carefully-applied makeup in seconds. Avoid these wedding day disasters with a little forethought and these bridal essentials.

Comfortable shoes

Adding a few inches to your actual height might make your dress look better but consider your comfort as well, especially during the reception. If you really must wear heels on your wedding day, go for a height that you can manage – two inches should be fine. Prevent painful blisters from forming on the big day by walking in them around the house days before the wedding. And if you can’t just imagine walking down the aisle in anything but four-inch monsters, get a second, more comfortable pair for the reception.

Waterproof mascara

You don’t want mascara running all over your face in your wedding photos, do you? Weddings are a very emotional moment and you will be shedding a tear or two. Prevent raccoon eyes or unwanted smudging with high-quality waterproof mascara, and keep it in your purse so you can keep looking fresh.

Small mirror

A small compact mirror will be your best friend at the ceremony and reception. Keep it in your little purse and discreetly check for any smudges in between tables.

Matte lipstick

You’ll be spending the evening doing a lot of kissing and eating, and your lipstick will definitely fade as the night wears on. Make sure you wear matte lipstick on your wedding night because they last longer and are less prone to smudging. Don’t forget to keep your lipstick in your purse!

Antiperspirant

Whether you’re wearing sleeves or not, a reliable antiperspirant is an absolute must. You’ll want to stay fresh and clean throughout your ceremony and reception, not to mention that pit stains are absolutely embarrassing. The extra layer of protection will not only keep you sweet-smelling throughout your special day, it’ll make you feel more confident too.

Ibuprofen

Headaches and aching limbs always happen at the most inopportune moments. Stay prepared by keeping a little tube of ibuprofen into your purse. Even if you won’t need it, one of your guests might.

Stain removal pen

You’ll want a stain removal pen just in case your white wedding dress accidentally gets stained by food, mud, or dirt. Before you purchase a pen, make sure you do a spot test on a swatch of your wedding dress’s fabric to see if it does the trick. Watch out for bleach as well, because this might cause unwanted discolorations instead of hiding the stains.
