Fall 2010 Wedding Dress Trend: Tiers and Ruffles
Fresh from the fall 2019 bridal runways are two trends that are sure to start popping up in more bridal stores: tiered skirts and vertical ruffles.

Designer Judd Waddell’s fall 2010 bridal collection were all about the tiers. Whether it was an A-line silhouette, mermaid skirt, or a full ball gown, he worked the trend onto his wedding dress. Tiers make a wedding dress fun to dance and spin around in circles in, not to mention that they add some character. Lovely as this trend might be, do note that tiers are not for every body type. Tiers help add shape to skirts and create a wider silhouette. Tall lanky brides and brides with athletic figures will look great in a tiered wedding dress with lots of layers, but these will only widen the silhouette of full-figured brides. Petite brides are also advised to stay away from this trend, especially if the tiers are located near the hem of the skirt. Tiers make horizontal lines that cut the long, unbroken silhouette that should give the illusion of height.

The vertical ruffle trend, however, is something that will suit petite brides and pear-shaped brides. These lovely dresses are the latest in Oscar de la Renta’s bridal collection. This celebrity designer usually unveils his wedding collection during the spring, but his fall collection contains the same airy and ethereal feel as his spring wedding dresses. The ruffles also add a touch of high fashion to the wedding dresses. The dress to the far left will do the trick of lengthening a short figure and adding more height.
