Monique Lhuillier Bliss Collection

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Remember the affordable Monique Lhuiller wedding gown line that was rumored to come out soon? Well, the designs of the Bliss collection have already been released and will be available at stores by the end of 2010. Each gown costs anywhere between $1,500-$3,000 – still pretty pricey, but they’re at least more accessible than her couture line. Of course, the Bliss collection doesn’t have the intricate roses and complex textures of Monique Lhuillier’s spring 2011 bridal collection, but the silhouette and craftsmanship are distinctly hers. Check out my favorites below!

The Cotton Bride Current Collection

the cotton bride current collection

I was completely blown away when I saw photos of The Cotton Bride, a couture bridal line that has only been around since 2007. The elegant simplicity of the gowns have an unforgettable quality, plus this was the first bridal houses in the United States to create an entire wedding line using natural cotton and linen. All the gowns are designed by Chris Kole and handmade in the USA (not by below-minimum-wage immigrant workers I hope). Check out my favorites from the current collection below!

angelo mozzillo wedding gown 1

I’m not very familiar with Italian bridal house Angelo Mozzillo but when I saw the dramatic waves of this gown, I just had to visit the website and what the rest of the collection looks like. I was not disappointed – every single gown is an intricately-constructed work of art.

Maria Lucia Hohan Autumn/Winter 2010-2011

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Maria Lucia Hohan is a quiet young designer who stays away from industry gossip while developing a strong brand. As a result, her gowns have been seen in the red carpet at important film festivals, as well as an international market. Her label can be found in big fashion capitals like New York, Tokyo, Singapore, Copenhagen, and Oslo. I’m enjoying the richly textured bridal gowns from her Autumn/Winter 2010-2011; they’re elegant and girly without falling into the trap of over-embellishment. Check out my favorites under the jump!

Judy Hua Spring/Summer 2010

peach blossoms

I’m currently loving Chinese indie designer Judy Hua’s spring/summer 2010 collection. Although you’d be hard-pressed to find a bride brave enough to wear these fashion-forward pieces, the craftsmanship and structure of each gown is worth a good, long look. The collection, which is named Hua Kee, was inspired by Chinese contemporary artist Zhou Chunya’s Peach Blossom paintings, which depicts peach blossoms and bright red shaped men embracing pink-colored women (shown above). Hints of the paintings’ color palette and theme can be seen in the models’ makeup and the tulle flowers stitched onto the gowns.
