AOL Shopping came out with an article about what your wedding gown style supposedly says about you and I’m not entirely sure I agree with them.
According to the article, ball gowns mean that you’re extravagant because the full skirt is the ultimate expression of the desire to be a princess on your wedding day. The classic strapless gown means you’re “conventional” because it shows off a little skin, but not too much. Mermaid-style wedding gowns say that you are bold and proud of your curves since the way the fabric clings to your body emphasizes flaws like wide hips. Halter tops show that you’re practical because they show off your shoulders while keeping your gown in place at the same time. Finally, goddess-style wedding gowns mean you are fashionable.
I don’t really think that’s all true. Just because a bride would choose a classic strapless gown over another style doesn’t mean that she’s conventional or boring, nor does it mean that she can’t be fashionable or extravagant. Remember: you define what you wear. You create the meaning of your wedding gown, not the other way around. Whoever you are will show in what you wear and how you act around other people. Don’t let these so-called definitions limit your wedding gown choices!
