The designers who participated at New York fashion week came up with a bunch of great trends for Spring 2008. Here are some of the looks you can expect to see on next year’s blushing brides.
Color
Who says white’s the only color you can wear on your wedding day? Designers came up with beautiful gowns in hues of blue, pink, silver, and gold. If you think that sounds a little too tacky for a wedding, the overall color of Spring’s gowns are more muted, though they have accents in brighter shades of magenta, yellow, and green.
Flared skirts
I love how they modified the traditional A-line and added a twist to it. It’s really slim on the waist and slowly flares out, like the shape of a trumpet. Dropped waists with fluted skirts also make for a sultry bride.
Flowing fabrics
The goddess look is in, with layers and layers of chiffon, tulle, and ruffled hems. Perfect for destination weddings, garden weddings, or anywhere with a soft breeze blowing.
Cover-ups
This year, designers paid the same attention to boleros, cardigans, and shrugs as much as they did on the gowns. It probably won’t be too popular over here because of the climate, but keep a lookout anyway for sequined cover-ups, satin jackets, and sheer caplets.
Unique necklines
Straps are taken to the extreme this season as designers add a kick to halters, tank straps, and off-shoulder styles. You probably won’t see too many strapless gowns next year.
