Wedding Ball Gowns

Even with all these unusual wedding gown trends that deviate away from tradition, a beautiful ball gown is still the wedding dress a bride is usually associated with. Ball gowns are the trademark look of some contemporary wedding gown designers like Oscar de la Renta and Christian Dior. In fact, it was Christian Dior who brought back the ball gown to wedding fashion when he made a dress with a cinched waist above skirts of flowing fabric.
Ball gowns might look incredibly formal, but you’d be surprised at how versatile they can be. They look their best in a dazzling cathedral wedding, but imagine how beautiful a ball gown would look in a garden wedding where nature can be as grand as a thousand cathedrals. Ball gowns can be as romantic as the flowing white tulle dresses girls wear in ballet, or it could be as structured as the silk dresses that were all over Paris Vogue int he 1950’s. It doesn’t really matter what material was used to create a ball gown. It can be as light as tulle or as heavy as silk, but one aspect of the ball gown stays the same: the skirt is based on volume. The sweeping ball gown skirt creates a sweeping entrance that looks fabulous on brides who know how to walk.
