Tiered Wedding Gowns
Here’s another hot wedding dress trend to watch out for in Spring 2009! Top wedding dress designers are adding layers and layers of tulle, organza, and other dreamy fabrics to create ruffled skirts or tiered wedding dresses. Think of it as a modern twist to the princess ball gown or the mermaid silhouette. Tiered wedding dresses will look fabulous on tall brides or pear-shaped brides, but petite brides should stay away from this trend because the layers will draw too much attention to the bottom and interrupt the vertical lines a petite bride should be trying to achieve. Here are some of the best tiered wedding gowns off the runway.

This strapless silk taffeta gown by Melissa Sweet features pearl banding, a dropped waist, and a dramatic full skirt of cascading ruffles.

A dreamy mermaid-style wedding gown like this can only come from designer Vera Wang. Made out of ivory organza, this wedding dress has a back lace-up closure.

Monique Lhuillier is not to be outdone though! This stunning, sweetheart-neckline strapless gown has a ruched bodice and an intricately-embroidered ruffle skirt. I don’t even want to think about how much this beauty costs!

This simple slim v-neck wedding dress by Jenny Packham comes with a tiered skirt – perfect for a beach wedding or an informal garden wedding.

This wedding dress by Christos is the most unusual and unique A-line gown I have ever seen – apparently, the skirt style is called a handkerchief skirt, and is made out of organza.
