Oscar de la Renta Spring 2011 Bridal Collection
Where Vera Wang’s wedding dresses have an ethereal, whimsical quality, Oscar de la Renta’s designs are on the regal side. His spring 2011 bridal collection evokes old Hollywood glam through his use of sheer lace overlays, elbow-length gloves, and drop veils. It’s a fairly large collection too, with around 20 new pieces, including an unusual ballroom dress in black. Since it’s impossible to show you the entire collection, I chose to feature the dresses that stood out the most.
This long-sleeved gown is so Grace Kelly, don’t you think so?
A drop veil with black lace edging is a great way to follow the black accent trend.
I have mixed feelings about this dress – I love the texture but it makes me think of crumpled-up tissues. Still, no other designer can get away with these ruffles like Oscar de la Renta can.
This dress is more my type – I love the ruffled hem and the fluttering chiffon layers all over the bodice.
The fur stole is impractical, but isn’t this look so old Hollywood?
I love the tulle headpiece!
Finally, the black wedding dress I was talking about. It’s a gorgeous gown, but I’m not sure if anyone would be comfortable wearing this color to their wedding. Would you wear this dress?
