I love polka dots on day dresses and I don’t see why wedding dresses shouldn’t have polka dots on them. It’s definitely not something you’d expect a bride to wear down the aisle, but the polka dot dresses below are just as romantic and feminine as the lacy numbers we’re all used to.

Maggie Sotterro’s Rasharna wedding dress has a full dotted organza skirt in blush – a subtle complement to the ivory and champagne bust. I think most brides would like this dress because it’s a lovely mix of tradition (beaded lacy top) and fashion-forward edginess (polka-dotted skirt).

This lovely confection from Candy Anthony is perhaps the most retro of the bunch, but polka-dotted wedding dresses don’t always have to look this way. Still, it’s an excellent choice if you really want to wear a period gown. Its got a form-fitting bias cut and a full circular skirt that must require a lot of fabric to make. I can just imagine how beautifully it would sway and bounce when you walk, though.

J. Crew’s Celeste is a lovely, breezy-looking dress that would be perfect for a garden wedding or beach wedding. Unfortunately, this style has been discontinued, but I think a seasoned dressmaker can easily replicate this dress if you can find a similar fabric.

Last but certainly not the least is Melissa Sweet’s Dora – a strapless organza gown with a ruched wrap bodice. Its tiny polka dots are there to add texture more than to make a statement, but it works – especially with the oversized bow.
